Ramen noodles :P

stayed in my PJs all day and worked on my dumb Surrealist art project.

BUT

it is finished.

AND

I might have a swimsuit? finally?

Kathryne

dusty :P

So, yesterday was fun. I didn't post because Megan & Marina slept over.
This post is for yesterday.

One theme kept randomly popping up...
In Sunday School we were talking about reflecting Jesus. How we don't shine on our own... we're like the moon. We're only dust. But... SHINY DUST! hehe.
Then, in church, the pastor was talking about humility. How we are made of dust. Not stardust or pixie dust... like, dirt-dust. (in parentheses: shiny dust!)
Then, after church, my dad, Tag, Kristen, and I went down to the creek. And Kristen made some comment about dust, but I forget what it was because I don't take notes everywhere, just church :P

I fancy fringe and fluffy things :)

Kristen was cleaning her room today and found this awesome fringed shawl-thing... and she didn't want it, so she gave it to me :)

Of course, I had to make it into a shirt... nothing a knot and a safety pin wouldn't do for me :P

Also, I babysat tonight :)
They have a psychotic (albeit FLUFFY) cat. Seriously, the thing was attacking my leg when I didn't pay it enough attention.

ALSO, my art project is almost done! YAY Photoshop!!!

happyhappyhappyhappyEFFERVESCENT.

Good, good night tonight. Swing dance, of course :)

Swing dance used to have another area available for people to hang out in when they didn't want to dance, but they always broke stuff. So there were little signs up telling people to stay in the main room. Well, Christine and I were sorta bored and the signs were kinda itty bitty, so we made bigger, better, beautifuller signs!

(click on them to see full beautifulness)

Also, found a video that my sister took of my doggie... hehe.

*gasp*

it. is. SO. hot. I can't breathe. there is no air circulation in my house. AAHHH.

Today in school was good. I almost won in Chemistry jeopardy. It came down to the final jeopardy, in which we had to write out the electron configuration for Sulfur. I got it all right, except that I had 1p and 2p instead of 2p and 3p (it skips). Dan had nothing. It counted that we both had it wrong, and he wagered less than I did. He beat me by 5 points. SIGH! but it was still fun.

Mediafest

Today in Chem lab we started The Hunt for Red October. SO much better than burning things, like we usually do.

picture of my new favorite curl:

tehe :P

then there's my dog. the things Kristen dresses him up in make me laugh.

and it is SO HOT right now. he has a lot of hair (obviously), so he gets reallyreally hot and does funny things like pant loud enough to hear from the other room.

Life is wonderful.

I do love my life. I have bad days, occasionally, but... well, I'm just happy. I don't really know why. I still have to do math homework. but, I am happy nonetheless.

Rundown of happy things today~
Homeroom: first thing Rachel said to me was, "are you having a bad hair day today?" (lol. yes. humidity.)
Literature: Mrs B really liked my essay on The Iliad. That was happy.
Chemistry: played "Chemistry Taboo." And we're watching The Hunt for Red October instead of lab tomorrow! YAY!!!
Chapel: ummm... the extra verses that the Reverend adds on to classic hymns are really funny. They don't sync. Or rhyme. and then I just bite my lip and make funny faces at Aaron :P
Lunch: I had CANTALOUPE! that stuff is good.
Bible: got 50 minutes in class to work on homework for this week.
Art: since my project is on my home computer, did creative writing exercises with Megan & Rachel.
First, pick a word (we opened a book to a random page and pointed). Then, think of what word that makes you think of. Then repeat until your set time is up. This is most fun when you have a group of people. See what you all come up with. Here is my paper:
(I go from "prayer" to "construction," "criminals" to "freez-e pops," and "silence" to "forced.")

yeah. that was fun. I had a good day.

Thesis!

!!!!!

Okay, so you all know how I've been talking about this paper overly much (it was 16-20 pages... not exactly worthy of 10 posts since December...), but I want you to know:

It was (almost) worth it!

And, maybe actually reading through it was worth it!

Because not only did I finish the paper (twice), but my teacher already returned it to me! And... I got a 97% :)
That means my final grade in the class (not counting the PowerPoint & presentation, which have yet to be begun) is an A+ :D

I am happy about this.

Also, finals are soon. Which means I only have 4 Chemistry classes left, EVER. And the final is multiple choice :)

Ambition!

Yay!

So, Thursday, my Headmaster approached me about the "End of the Year Celebration" (read: Awards Ceremony). Since our little choir was so fabulous on Monday, he wants us to do do two songs at the end of the year thing. New songs. 2.5 weeks to prepare.

I'm like, okay, cool. Good songs. What Wondrous Love is This (amazing a cappella) and The Precious Blood (Sovereign Grace).
Unfortunately... well... I am the only one who halfway plays piano. So, I have to alltheway play piano. And while I don't need to worry about the a cappella beauty of WWLiT, The Precious Blood has a HARD piano part. Okay, it isn't that bad. But it's hard for a girl who only reads music for singing (so, can sight read the treble clef) and only took one year of lessons. And it's hard to play while singing.

I considered just using the chords and making up something half-decent like I usually do.
BUT.
I worked on it.
And worked.
And worked.
In fact, that's what I've been doing with all my free time.
And I think I have it!

And, yes, pride is a bad thing, but I am glad I stuck it out. It isn't great, but it's better than the cheat way :P

PS- Happy Birthday, Daddy!

happy places :)

there are some places that just make me smile. they make me so inexplicably happy.

I went to a place like that today... the kind of place you can go with 10 other people and feel... not isolated, but... just free, like if you snapped your fingers, everybody else would just evaporate. the perfect sort of thing for an ambivert :P
(just kidding. I am an introvert. I just like people.)

(and then I made myself another clover crown.)

AND I drove! and didn't die! AND I saw Aaron & Matt on the side of the road at their carwash :P pleasant surprise.

all the best people are crazy.

Had fun being an introvert :)
I shall need to do it again sometime. Maybe I'll make it a once-a-week deal. It was nice to just be... just to be.

Rachel & Megan & Marina & I made clover crowns today! yay for being feminine! :)

Today, went to see Alice in Wonderland at a SUPERCHEAP theater (I paid $2) with Amy :)
Then we went to IHOP. Everything in me wants to write that "iHop," but I know it isn't supposed to be that way.
Oscar came, too.

We are so cool. We got apple cinnamon cheesecake pancakes with scrambled eggs... mmmm!
Then we divided it up even... and called the calculation perfect love :P (sorry Rachel/Megan; couldn't resist)

Quote:

*grin* I have cookies!

So... I ate the last cookie.

Anyways.

I went shopping today, and actually bought something! TWO somethings!

Also, convinced my Chem teacher to let us watch The Hunt for Red October in our two remaining labs. Radiation & nuclear ...stuff... have to do with chemistry, right??

Quote:
"So, he stands there, grinning like a three-year-old who just got caught eating your cookies. He's grinning because HE ate your cookies, and now they're HIS, and YOU can't have them, because HE ate them!"

Kathryne

PS- taking my cue from Sandy and spontaneously dropping off the face of the Earth... well, as much as I can.
Basically, taking an introvert day-and-some.
I will not be:
  • going places,
  • receiving guests,
  • blogging,
  • emailing,
  • chatting,
  • talking on the phone, or
  • even Facebook-ing.
So, goodbye! Be back maybe Friday, maybe Saturday.

AFRICA BUDDIES!!!!!

I saw Sandy tonight :D

nuff said.

Have fun falling off the face of the Earth... er... *disappearing* off the face of the Earth... on Friday. I envy you. hehe.

PPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP!

We politely pardoned the party pooper in purple pajama pants, and she partook of the pile of patiently prepared perfectly pretty particularly petite (racist) papery pale puffy pancakes.

Thus, our morning.

TADA!

(true story. seriously.)

Doofus.

*Semi-Interesting*
I woke up at 5:45. ew. But then I went to shadow Brody all day, which was cool.
And one guy I'm to be working with this summer is from Russia! (ish... Kyrgyzstan, actually.)

*Better*
Okay so.... I arrived at Christine's Coffee House at.... 6-ish.

And, we ate. things. (Like the mozzarella sticks, that kinda exploded in the oven, so they were more like inside out mozzarella sticks.)

Then we went to Rita's, and got gelatis. (My computer doesn't like that word.) We started walking home... and it rained. So, we hitch-hiked. Sort of.

We admired the awesome thunderstorm. 'Twas really cool. :P

Then we watched The Hunt for Red October... ate cookies... and popcorn.

And guess what else we did?? It's four letters, rhymes with walk... I bet you'll never guess... :P

As of now the four ... er ... TWO of us are having lots of fun. More of that secret business that you will never guess.

And fun chats... and quad-souled goddesses.

(we can't think of a clever way to sign off. so we shall leave you with... BPAC!)*

pessimism DOES NOT PAY!

I can't tell you how many times I must have jinxed myself yesterday... lol.

I did forget to post, and I apologize.

Here is for yesterday:
"Body humor is the intellectual equivalent of a smashed amoeba."
-Mr C
"0 entropy = America's social life."
-Mr C
"Ding, Dong! The witch is dead... oh, nope, wait, she's still alive..."
-Megan (regarding Rachel, who was trying/pretending to sleep)
"Rachel! Go ruin someone else's trashbag joke!"
-Megan

Megan: If you don't stop that, you're going to get chastised!
Dalvin: ...what... isn't that... like... -snip snip- ?
Caleb: NO, that's circumcised!

Now today~
Um, went to Philly.
It didn't rain.
"Ha ha! Tour Guide Barbie has monkeys!"

We have assigned ourselves witches:
Megan is the Wicked Witch of the West because she has lots of flying monkeys ready to do her bidding. (this is not the same as Tour Guide Barbie. That's Kevin.)
Rachel us the Wicked Witch of the East, because she always dies first.
Marina is the Good Witch of the North because she is actively involved in making people's lives better. And looks good in pink.
I am the Good Witch of the South, because I like to hide out in my own home in the warm weather and don't bother with other people's business.

That class makes it hard to be a pessimist.
We had our test postponed to next Tuesday
our homework waived
and an extra credit assignment! yay!

Almost made up for... umm, this.

leaves become most beautiful when they're about to die...

I must be just gorgeous about now.

lol.

I did survive today!

And we got HOMEWORK PASSES from the Principal-of-the-half-day (auction item) SO I don't have to do my Bible homework!

Also, I am becoming more and more obsessed with Regina Spektor (see: Time Is All Around, from which the title of this post was taken)
...I do love her. And she is composing music for the Broadway-modernized-rendition of Sleeping Beauty, which will be playing in the 2011-2012 season, which I am determined to make our first class reunion! As unopposed senior class rep nominee, I am in charge of that :)

Kathryne

PS- my math teacher assigned "get enough sleep Tuesday night" as homework... I have Calc first thing Wednesday morning.

Sunday, May 9, 2010

While today was (mostly) great, some things that stood out:
  • Happy Mother's Day!
  • CHRISTINE!!!! HI!!!!
  • Got to wear "new" lacey shirt for first time. Got compliments, yay.
  • Mr Phil is cool!! :) (although, he & Mr Ray are a tad scary... hehe)
  • Best reaction yet to "I threw out my hairbrush. I don't own one."

one more time with feeling

My new life motto :)

good song too.

you thought by now you'd be
so much better than you are
you thought by now they'd see
that you have come so far

and the pride inside their eyes
is synchronized into a love you'll never know
so much more than you can show

hold on
one more time with feeling
try it again, breathing's just a rhythm

yep :)

Went to Christine's confirmation today :)
And I used my mom's volumizing hair mousse!!! THAT was fun. Especially with the wind we were getting... *whew*

AND! my room is finally clean! :P

Kathryne

Friday, May 7, 2010

Happiness is...

  • a good hair day
  • a half day of school
  • getting an uneven tan
  • ...hey, it means I am capable of tanning!
  • ruining my good hair day by taking a long walk
  • ...to the stone wall
  • ...where I sit and read the Essential Homer
  • getting the spider OUT of my hair
  • coming home after 2 hours of -alone-
  • being an introvert
  • swing dancing :)
  • pretending to be an extrovert
  • talking too much
  • green & purple dresses that bounce when I skip
  • EFFERVESCENCE :)

TADA!

Today's post is brought to you by the letter "P"

...umm, yeah. So we decided that "P" is the best letter, because all of the best things start with it.

For example:
  • purple
  • pasta
  • pears
  • peaches
  • pineapples
  • plums
  • Phantom of the Opera
  • Princess Bride
  • Pride & Prejudice
  • Picture of Dorian Gray
  • pandas
  • penguins
  • polynomials (just kidding!)
  • perfectionists
  • pragmatists
  • pale people
  • prettiness!
  • parents
  • paintbrushes
  • pastels
  • paisley
  • preference
And, last but not least, the little button that says "publish post" (ah! I am finished!) :)

Also! Chemistry:

Kathryne

EDIT: (I forgot)
  1. I went onto http://www.respektonline.com/ and downloaded live versions of all of my favorite Regina Spektor songs :) ...except The Sword and the Pen; they didn't have that one.
  2. I took all of my Bible notes in Cyrillic! First time ever attempting that, and it went pretty well. We'll just have to see how well I can read them, lol.

Wednesday, May 5, 2010

bleah.

I want to shoot myself.
with a nerf gun.
or a tranquilizer; maybe then I could sleep.

BLEAAAHHH! I do not like today.

Oh well.

Umm, well, we sabotaged our Chemistry experiment, and then got out almost 30 min early because... *ahem*... we couldn't finish the experiment because somebody must have cleaned out the test tubes and we don't have enough chemicals left!
haha.
I was not actually involved; I just reaped some of the benefits (i.e. not having to do the experiment).

Birthdays :)

Today, my baby sister turned 13... :sigh:
I need to come up with a new label for her. I've been grouping her under "kids." As she is an inch and a quarter taller than me and looks like a model, I don't think I can do that anymore... :sigh:

We set up a Facebook for her.
She had more friends in the first hour than I did in my first WEEK on Facebook :P

talked to Christine :D

such a happy thing :)

:D

also...
well...
Mondays are no longer bad days. We tend to have lots of fun on Mondays. As in, cracking-up-laughing-over-legitimately-NOTHING-for-5-straight-minutes kind of fun.

Quotes:

"I'm not a complete social failure... yet..."
-Megan

Mr. C: I want you to look over these speeches and write an essay involving at least three. See how the ideas have impacted our society. Try to find a commonality between your three.
Megan: This packet is like a book!
Rachel: BBQ!
Katie & Megan: ....???
Rachel: This isn't a Document Based Question- it's a Book Based Question!
Katie: Hey! I don't like barbecue and I don't like this assignment! Commonality!!!

...uh, yeah.

Also! FINALLY talked to Christine :)

awesome day :)

Part One (Morning)
-Sunday School! was awesome!
-then Bible Force
-then church
-awesome version of Doxology (like that, but better, because we had Brendan on drums!)

Part Two (Afternoon)
-Scrabble!!! I (barely) won :P
-Blake & Mark poking fun at how I sit on my chair, then after a 15-second semi-awkward silence: "Your necklace is pretty." ...llol.
-"Quid... it's like squid with a lisp!" -Blake

Part Three (Evening)
-babysitting :)
-Caiden got glasses! SO CUTE!! All 4 year olds should have glasses!
-Me (after Caiden shows me his Chick-Fil-A pen): Chick-Fil-A! Do you like the sandwich or the nuggets?
Caiden: umm... chicken.

oh, the things we do when we get bored...

And by "we" I mean me and my other schizophrenic self/ves.

Today we got bored of cleaning our room, so we recorded a song we're going with our chorus. Today, we did it without the rest of them, all by ourselves! 'Twas fun!!

...then we got this creepy message from some random guy:

A few problems:
a) his account name does not match the name he signed.
b) my video had zero views at the time I received this message
c) LOVE YOU?! seriously??
d) what does that part after the first ellipsis even mean? "it really really keep watching it" ...ooookay?
e) *gaaaaaahhhh* double periods!?!?!

we think we shall either block him or mark him as spam... what think you all?
