--

I have no good title ideas.

The Good: Even though I have been recently turning my alarm off in my sleep (?), and even though I didn't wake up until 8:25 as a result, and even though my hair was superpoofy today, I made it to school by 8:42 (only slightly late).
Also, started learning Let All Mortal Flesh... on the piano, even though that's not technically a part of the medley. That has yet to be begun.

The Bad: Starting to crash. Starting to wonder, how do I say no, more? Handling time and saying just those two letters... it's so elementary! I mean, I already say/have said "no" to...
  • church praise team
  • church anthem choir
  • Studio Art II
  • second half of Megan's chorus time
  • Varsity Basketball (that was a toughie. they were begging. BEGGING.)
  • youth group
  • all stuff on Sunday afternoons
  • Google/Facebook chat 80% of the time
  • shopping, ever
  • babysitting, ever
...and yet I'm still struggling to keep up with school work and finding myself neglecting college prep? why? I'm honestly not trying to whine about how busy my life is, because I know compared to others' it's simply not. But I'm having trouble learning how to deal with this.

The Random: We (12th graders) are going to make a video of each of us parodying another. Creating caricatures of each other. Whatever. It's fun.
Kevin will do Rachel (...lol. I have no words.)
I get Megan (quotes, anyone?)
Dan gets me (he'll wear a poofy wig)
Rachel has Kevin (THAT should be entertaining)
Megan has Dan (not sure about that yet)

Quote from Kevin:
"Let's wear shoes that make our toenails fall off!" (mocking Rachel aka Princess aka flitting ballerina lady)

AWRUOHAACHRISTMASERGIHAE

The Good: AAHHH! I get to arrange a medley for choir!! I have never done that before, but I am super excited, because it's a CHRISTMAS medley. The girls are picking between these three (with really stupid names)...
  1. Angels (Hark, the Herald Angels Sing; Angels We Have Heard on High; O Come All Ye Faithful... based on BarlowGirl's Angelic Proclamation Medley)
  2. Night/Lullaby (Silent Night; O Holy Night; It Came Upon a Midnight Clear; Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence, etc)
  3. The Child (What Child is This; One Small Child; Gentle Mary Laid Her Child; Away in a Manger, etc)
The Bad: Busy bee >.<
(have to finish this skirt, find time to go to JoAnne's to get a zipper for the thing, do Bible study prep, keep up with homework, and prepare for all my different choirs... and this weekend I will not be home. Legitly. All of these things are wonderful, but they add up to mean DISASTER aka less sleep. I need to learn to say no.)

The Random: lolol. Picture day. No individual pictures, thank all that is good and gracious in the yearbook department... senior pics go in! But our class pic is ridiculous. See illustration (which is, unfortunately, kind of accurate... guess who is who! And don't you love my stick figures? :P)

PS- made my day-- "Flitting is marvelous!" (-Princess)

Kathryne

warm&cold&such

The Good: SUCH nice weather today! Walked to Bynum Run again, and played in the creek like a little kid :P

The Bad: The water was FREEZING, and then I (in my bare feet) almost stepped in this...

The Random: I realized today that it's really funny how I have never run into any of the crazy people (aka Mark & Daniel) who often bike around my neighborhood, when I'm out on my walks. Hum.

My Day in Pictures

(with captions)

The Good:
Forgot to tell y'all yesterday, but... I GOT NEW SHOES! (I really am a teenage girl, deep, deep down)

Blackberry jam + new jar of peanut butter = heaven

The Bad:
[Conspicuous lack of art-gallery-ish pictures]
Only got to go to Norman Rockwell exhibit, and not even all of that, and that only for 20 minutes.

Stupid low lighting and weird ISO messed up all my pictures from the Harvest Party :/

The Random:
haha... read it. all of it.

Oh, Dalvin. You put us to shame.

Oh, Kevin... you are a shame :P (just kidding. but Larry the vampire sticker and Agnes his girlfriend are a little odd).

Alliteration and Such

The Good: I went to bed before midnight last night! For the first time in, like, a while! yay! ANDDD Dalvin & I did not have to go for our debates in government today!

The Bad: I am learning more and more about myself... my reactions to things... I'm really very predictable. I could be a math equation. Speaking of which, I have a gazillion of them to do by Monday... *sigh*

The Random: Had some awesomely alliterative moments in Lit class today. And then got Rachel's classic are-you-for-real face. And I believe my name is catching on... "Lady Kathryne." Thank you, David (and Megan, who read that over my shoulder :P)

The Random: New blog post. Like, other than just this one :P

350!

I have 350 posts! wheee!!

The Good: Small group tonight :)

The Bad: I talk too much. Rather, I ramble. And I realize it while I'm doing it and can't seem to find a graceful exit and it's like GAAHHHHH*bangsheadonwall*

The Random: Something really funny happened today... I can still see Rachel's face in my head... but I cannot for the life of me remember what it was.

Kathryne

EDIT: Rachel & Megan just reminded me what it was... kind of dumb, but we all tapped sympathetically on Megan's sick/dying laptop at the same time :P

Monday...

The Good: Saw Megan! Rachel! (email from) Christine! and Daniel, and David! Also, successfully guilted my mom out of reading my essay before it's ready :P

The Bad: Much work... little sleep...

The Random: ohhhhhmygoodness. Dessert tonight. MMMM. Angel food cake, chocolate, toffee bits, and amazing cream cheese/cool whip stuff.

*whew

The Good: Finished Common App Essay 2.0. Got over my fear of "Choose your own topic."

The Bad: Am really really good at procrastinating that debate speech. Wondering if I'll be as good at winging it on Thursday.

The Random: Have not used a single subject in this blog post so far. SO THERE.

Swingswingswing

The Good: SWING! yay. Good, good times. Really good. Mostly because I wore my favorite shirt and an awesome pink lace hairbow, but... you know :P Also, learning Lindy! And, like, not-failing Lindy!

The Bad: Megan & Rachel both MIA from school. Christine MIA from Swing.

The Random: October is halfway over... this means... there are still 15 days of the best month of the year left! SO HAPPY!!!

The Good: Rachel's family is on vacation. So, Mr C wasn't there for Calc, Physics, or Latin, and our sub took us to 711 for pumpkin spice lattes etc :)

The Bad: Rachel's family is on vacation. Rachel, I miss you.

The Random: SO EXCITED for the Lit project... role of women in the 1920s :D

I am a magnet for all kinds of deeper wonderment...

The Good: AHHHWEAREDOINGCOMETHOUFOUNTATCHURCHHHH!!! !!! !!! and I get to sing melody, and I NEVER sing melody. OH SO HAPPPPYYY!! Also, saw Chelsea!

The Bad: homework... what else is new? Also, Christine was at my house, and I said all of three words to her. blaaahhhh.

The Random: I like to listen to dramatic music while I do my math homework. It makes what I'm doing seem more important.
YAY for Narnia soundtracks/Freedom! (--totally had before the mime thing...)

Anddd picture for today...

LA!

The Good: Everything!

The Bad: Not really anything!

The Random: I spend a whole lot of time thinking about those things which might be bad, you know? And, sure, they might be bad on other days, but today was really decent and I spent a lot of it worrying about other stuff on other days. When, really, that stuff fits perfectly well into my worry-quotient of those days... no need to overflow it into today.

This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it. WHOO!

Fairy Place :)

The Good: got to go to BIBLE FORCE!!! :D

And, for those of you who are somehow unaware, there is a creek in my general area that has a stone wall I like to sit on (photo taken 10.25.09)...

...and today I got to go down there with my journal and my book and my camera (plenty of occupation for a few hours). I rediscovered my fairy place (upstream a bit of the wall) and had lots of fun just looking. I think Christine & Erin & Kristen and I are going to have a photoshoot sometime soon, when the leaves change.

The Bad: SAT yesterday :P

The Random:

finished.

The Good: I have officially and successfully finished- my first college interview, my senior thesis proposal, my 3-page history essay, my Latin homework, and a good LOT of my college applications!

The Bad: I have officially and successfully finished- that part of my life where I get to sleep seven hours a night.

The Random: APPLE CIDER! (*swoons*)

And some quote catch-up...

"I have the attention span of, like, a squirrel." -Kevin

"Debate presentations are in two weeks. I will have a tazer. If you go above 8 minutes 15 seconds, I will taze you. If you stop short 7 minutes 45 seconds, I will taze you." -Mr. V
"Are you SERIOUS?!" -Victoria

"...for my students not in Chapter 10--" -Mr. C
"...NAPTIME! You couldn't have said it better yourself!" -Megan

"Maybe one day I'll be a tenth-grade girl." -Megan

"Let this be a lesson to you. Like what I like. Hate what I hate. And your world will be a more pleasant place." - (who else) Megan

Gray Day :)

The Good: These past few days have been decidedly gray. And I like them. It's like The Secret Garden, or those Beatrix Potter videos, or really any film that takes place in premodern Britain. It's quite nice, at least, when I am wearing gloves and a sweater.

The Bad: Math.

The Random: Dug through my computer archives to find something to post on Awesome Possum. Found some surprisingly good poems I wrote in elementary school. I think I was a better poet then than now.

Kathryne

PS~ Lit assignment! it's finished!

From the YouTube description:

This is my first attempt at a semi-surrealist film. It is based on the fifteenth stanza of Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself."

Music is the beginning of Cry of the Heart from Michael W Smith's "Freedom."

EXPLANATION:
As this is surrealist, I cannot fully explain it (*devious laugh*). However, note Whitman's ending comments in stanza XV:
"And these tend inward to me, and I tend outward to them,
And such as it is to be of these more or less I am"
He comes to the forty-six people described in the stanza with open, empty hands. Not one of those forty-six is a poet or anything like Walt Whitman. I think he is trying to make the point that the others mentioned ARE Walt Whitman. And Walt Whitman IS them. He comes with nothing of his own, wanting to absorb the feelings, thoughts, and habits of the others.

Help?

The Good: My friends get to do all kinds of crazy fun things this weekend :)

The Bad: I have to stay home for various reasons.

The Random: The Maryland Distinguished Scholar key speaker said that the lot of us were "the most brightest students in Maryland."
...wow. Nice to know I'm the most brightest. :P

The Supplication: It is a guarantee that my college interviewer on Tuesday will ask me questions like "How would your friends and family describe you, in one word?" I dunno, how would you?
