Today I bought my 25th article of purple clothing.
Not including footwear, headwear, or outerwear, of course :P

It was also the last day of the first full week of school we've had since Christmas break. Stupid snow.

sledding with friends

1) Went to the library and got lots of materials for my thesis... WHICH IS TAKING FORM (slowly, but it's getting there).

2) Almost convinced my mom to paint the bathroom purple... again, getting there.

3) Wend sledding with friends :) Blake, Colin, Daniel, David, Mark... and Christine, of course. Vicariously.

I didn't sled much, because the trails were a little steep for the excessive foliage covering them (and when I did try it was inevitably a FAIL), but I had fun taking pictures and walking around.

took it kinda easy.

Until we clipped Hummer's nails, that is.

So I made a video of it.

Then there was the evening service, which I love. And out of the 20 people in the congregation, 8 were wearing purple! (this may have been because of a certain football team, but I am choosing to disregard that.)

1. I went onto http://www.respektonline.com/ and downloaded live versions of all of my favorite Regina Spektor songs :) ...except The Sword and the Pen; they didn't have that one.
2. I took all of my Bible notes in Cyrillic! First time ever attempting that, and it went pretty well. We'll just have to see how well I can read them, lol.

First off, I would like to introduce you to:

myself. Exactly one year ago.

I sent myself an email from school (with a document attached) saying~

here you go katie. i know that this is what you've always wanted. because of this, i am not going to get you a birthday present this year. don't be sad, i may not have gotten you one anyways. so have fun with your very own rhetoric essay. to properly take care of it, you need to use three supporting arguments and sufficient 4-syllable non-understandable vocabulary. that makes it seem more authentic. don't forget to feed it (it likes lemon jello and toast), and if you don't give it enough root beer it will get depressed.

hehe. that made me laugh a little.

What made me smile a LOT tonight (and why-I-shouldn't-post-until-the-day-is-over) was...

At dinner.

I turned around for a second; I forget why.

When I returned to my normal position, there was a suspicious bump under my napkin.

I lifted the napkin, expecting to see some strange "clue" as to what my family is doing this summer, and I saw not that but an ...iPod!

I say (incredulous): "What?"

Mom (equally astounded) says: "What?!"

Kristen (not sure what was going on in her mind) says: "WHAT?!?!"

PURPLE!

When you're a little kid, you definitely have your "favorite color(s)." But getting older, sometimes you lose that happy "this is my color" feeling.

not me.

No, for me, purple just makes me... HAPPY. I don't know how else to say it. Whenever I see purple, I can't help but smile. So, today was School Spirit Week Day 1 (yeah, it's only Wed-Fri)... Wacky Tacky Day. And, owning enough purple to literally clothe my entire grade twice over, I couldn't help but go all-out in that wonderful, happy color =)

Outfit consists of (with an understood "purple" in front of each):

Snow (again)

The snow is very much a "meh" thing for me.

I don't own snowpants

or sweatpants

or snow boots

or really even tennis shoes.

So I do what I would do anyways, and stay inside and clean and do homework.

(why does it keep snowing on the weekends?!?!! AAAHHH!!!!)

...yeah, Africa presentation was cancelled. again. because of snow. stupid snow.

HOWEVER.

I still did smile a lot today.

I found a college when I was online that I like. It's called the University of Evansville, in southern Indiana.

it's not terribly expensive
they give you a scholarship for being a part of their choir
and another one for being an active member of a United Methodist church

...and they have a Russian Studies minor
and an English major
and a good-looking communications program
and an option to study abroad in Russia
and a decent mission statement

...and the school color is PURPLE! =D

OH! right!! there was this kid at Children's Church who, after we played "The Lord's Army" yelled out really loudly, "That's my favorite!!" It was great.

Students Against Boring Binders- that is a society I should really create.

I cannot stand having run-of-the-mill school supplies, or even ones covered in photos and memorabilia (ahh, ever the anti-conformist, eh?). So, every year, I get SUPER excited to get new binders... new playgrounds for the imagination in my fingers =)

Last year's was a pink be-sequined masterpiece, and the one before it was made out of an awesome pair of yard-sale jeans and duct tape. My LIT binder is covered in PURPLE duct tape and wrapping paper.

Today, I fabric-painted my pencil case, and got planning my next BINDER! yay!!
