Yesterday
-The Awkward Feely Conversation, during which Rachel and I both tripped over things because it was so Awkward and about Feelings
-"Rachel... the lawn gnome trucker!!!"
-Watched Titanic, finally. I enjoyed it thoroughly; it was a work of art. The motif of the hands is brilliant.
-Sleepover with Megan!

Today
-Saw Caleb a bunch for the first time in a while :)
-Began working on part of Christine's halfway present... yes, there will be one. muahaha. ha. ha.
-Learned tandem Charleston. The lead part. Partially. Ish. But it was fun. :)
-"Don't drool on me!" (my sister cracks me up)
-Dancing.
-Dancing in my sparkly outfit.
-Dancing lots of times and only hitting Mark in the face once :P
-Did I mention dancing?

Today David, Daniel, Blake, Mark, Kristen, and I went to go caroling at Walgreens! ...if you could call it that. We all went and sang sort-of-in-the-same-key for Drew, who had to work 9am-6pm. poor guy.

My family looked through about 5 reels of my grandparents' old slides. My grandpa was in the Navy and has some really cool pictures, like ones he got when his ship went through the eye of a hurricane and the wind was down enough that he could get the camera out but the waves were still giant.

One of my new favorite pieces of the mimes. It was really cool.

I've been working on Christmas presents all day... and eating chocolate... and listening to Regina Spektor, because I haven't in a while. Found some new songs, actually.

I Learned...
Chinese students know 3 languages fluently by the time they graduate high school... the local dialect, Mandarin Chinese, and English. Some also take other languages like Arabic, Russian, etc. Crazy.

I love living like this.

So, I decided to take today off.

I'm not even going to touch my Chemistry homework, nope!

Instead, I am reading a novel (Journey, by Angela Hunt) and eating a Take5 bar!!! =)

...it's a really good book, and really good chocolate.

Also, what made me smile... hummm... I think Blake's face during "Endless Night" (the dance-part) made me smile because it was just so HAPPY. And the pink stuff at the shower, that was fun.

Hilariously Depressing

First (and this has nothing to do with the title), I just wanted to say that I love chocolate.

So today I packed two (very large) brownies in my lunch. As I'm eating the second, larger one, my Lit teacher says, "How do you have such nice skin?! That thing is as big as your head!!"

that made me laugh.

It was only about 3.5 inches squared... =P

ALSO.

Grading papers.

There was a map.

(groan)

So, who here can tell me where the Atlantic Ocean is? Anybody??

Yeah, well, 60% of these 7- 9th grade classically trained students got that question wrong. There were three areas on the map numbered and labeled as "water," and they had to tell the name.

The answer for one of them was "the Atlantic Ocean."

Now, the Atlantic Ocean, today, was:

Okay, while at first it REALLY bugged me that, somehow, we ONLY seem to get snow on weekends, it is still great to get 2 feet of snow. Even if it does start on a Saturday.

I finally went out in it today, in my jeans, but was it ever fun.

Silly Puppy.

My dog is, I think, sometimes more OCD than I am. Really. He freaks out when there is something in our kitchen, living room, playroom, etc that should not be there. The first time was with my little sister's birthday balloon... then a watermelon... then apples... then MORE apples... then a cooler of ice cream... then, today, my Grandpa's briefcase!

I didn't catch this latest hilarity on tape, but I do have a few others in file... take 2 minutes to watch 'em.

Now every time I watch it, though, I'm reminded... where I live, there is no Graeter's =(

That's the best ice cream on earth if you haven't heard. Go for Black Raspberry Chip... mmmmm!

Once Upon a Time... the Beginning of the Optimism Initiative

Once upon a time, I was in a bad spot. It was cold, dreary weather and it had been for a long while. It was the middle of Lent, too, and I had given up the internet. I was not exactly depressed... maybe foggy would be a better word.

Anyways, one Friday night someone made a comment to me that, for some reason, just made me smile. I wrote it down in my journal and decided on a whim to record something, no matter how stupid, that made me smile, every day for the next 30 days.

I did, and I have to say my "experiment" was a success. I was much less "foggy" by the end. This wasn't just good for the people around me (since I stopped being so "glass-half-empty" and negative), but it's just more fun to be an optimist. I didn't continue it in my journal, because I wanted to use my journal for important stuff like whining and moping.

So here I am, a good 3 months later, starting up again... this time to share with y'all that are interested in the smiles of a high school girl with a misspelled name.
