OH was the sunset ever gorgeous tonight.
It was breathtaking. I saw it go straight through from the delicate pastel scrollwork all the way to the deeply soaked, rich tones bleeding out from the horizon. Splendid. But that doesn't capture it.

I think the sky in Heaven might be like a sunset over the snow, continuous.

The Good: AAHHH! I get to arrange a medley for choir!! I have never done that before, but I am super excited, because it's a CHRISTMAS medley. The girls are picking between these three (with really stupid names)...

1. Angels (Hark, the Herald Angels Sing; Angels We Have Heard on High; O Come All Ye Faithful... based on BarlowGirl's Angelic Proclamation Medley)

Today was cool, and I talked with awesome people like Sandy and Livi and Daniel. And that's all cool and yadayadayada.

But then... tonight.

at the evening service.

God, what a world You love.

it's amazing what He has done.

what He's doing.

what vision and drive and wisdom He puts in people like Matt.

and what wonderful voices of reason He puts in the minds of people like me who start thinking they can do everything and change the world... when all we are is tools in His hands. And for people like me that may not mean becoming a teacher. But the fields are white. The harvest is ready. And all we've got to do is bend a little and sharpen up so we can be His machetes. And it is SO INCREDIBLY AWESOME.

also, today was great. Lizzy had a "Shop Swap" and a bunch of us got together and set up all of our clothes we didn't ever wear/really want like a store and went shopping for freeeeee in each others' clothes. it was cool. I got rid of a bunch of stuff (like Andee's hand-me-down Homecoming dress I never wore), and I got a bunch of stuff (like my first ever yellow dress... I never wear yellow. ever).

Today is Wednesday, right?

This vacation has been super crazy awesome. I feel like we've been here a week and it's only been 3.5 days.

Today we went to Slide Rock state park. My cousins all jumped off of the 40 foot cliff. I abstained. I climbed rocks instead. I feel greater friendship with solid earth than with water. Or heights.

In other news... exactly 3 weeks from today will be Act Your Shoe Size Day!! This is the great day of the year where you have an excuse to act like a little kid again... unless, of course, you wear a size 13, in which case I pity you. I hated being thirteen.

I wear a 7.5, so I get to do all kinds of fun things and I am psyched :)

The concert was *amazing* and lovely and in all ways wonderful. I love you guys.

Also, I DID NOT GET LARYNGITIS! even though I was leading 2 choirs today in school, and delivering my Hamlet soliloquy, and playing piano, and singing a solo... I survived! yay!

Today was AWESOME.

No only do I not have my thesis hanging over my head (19.6 pages, completed 10 PM yesterday!), but I also got to spend the afternoon with some of my favorite people ever.

Taught myself 1/2 of the Cyrillic alphabet during Chemistry :)

Pleasantly surprised to see Colin in the car when Blake & Christine came to my school :)

Ate lots of ice cream :)

Talked a lot and listened a lot and sat in silence... for a bit :)

And I am just THRILLED to be alive. Because it's a blessing. All of it. Even Chemistry. And I am thrilled to have some amazing friends who can remind me of that from time to time!

First off, I would like to introduce you to:

myself. Exactly one year ago.

I sent myself an email from school (with a document attached) saying~

here you go katie. i know that this is what you've always wanted. because of this, i am not going to get you a birthday present this year. don't be sad, i may not have gotten you one anyways. so have fun with your very own rhetoric essay. to properly take care of it, you need to use three supporting arguments and sufficient 4-syllable non-understandable vocabulary. that makes it seem more authentic. don't forget to feed it (it likes lemon jello and toast), and if you don't give it enough root beer it will get depressed.

hehe. that made me laugh a little.

What made me smile a LOT tonight (and why-I-shouldn't-post-until-the-day-is-over) was...

At dinner.

I turned around for a second; I forget why.

When I returned to my normal position, there was a suspicious bump under my napkin.

I lifted the napkin, expecting to see some strange "clue" as to what my family is doing this summer, and I saw not that but an ...iPod!

I say (incredulous): "What?"

Mom (equally astounded) says: "What?!"

Kristen (not sure what was going on in her mind) says: "WHAT?!?!"

Oh, what happens when we get bored...

So, I'm bored.

I, literally, have not set FOOT outside of my house since I came home around 6:15 on Friday night. I am an introvert, but it's still a little weird that I haven't seen people (that I know/care about, that are not in my family) in 4 days.

Since I have no one to distract me, I decided to straighten my hair today.

(*collective GASP*)

yep. First time since I had my hair cut last June... uh... 30th? Or was it July 1st? It was a Tuesday. Anyways.

After only 4 hair clips, 3 burns, 2 flat irons, 1 hour [+50 minutes], and endless patience, my hair went, well...
