i can has depth perception?

driving at night = >.<
when the lights are staggered just right and your eyes are blurred just enough that you cannot tell if the green light or the red light is the one directly in front of you = >.<

BUT HEY it's New Year's Eve. I did have fun today. Vandalism is good exercise :P

New Year's Resolutions:
  1. Find something better to do on New Year's Eve.
  2. Develop a sense of direction greater than what I have.
  3. Develop depth perception greater than what I have. Don't die.
  4. Learn how to be passionate.
  5. Travel the world. (or, just make good use of my time in EUROPE ...!)
  6. Make lists exclusively of either 3 or a factor of 50 (but not 1 or 2).
  7. Read every single book C. S. Lewis ever wrote.
  8. Learn how to play an instrument like guitar, banjo, ukulele, or the like.
  9. Use every page in the Christine-book. EVERY. ONE.
  10. Do most everything more, better, faster, truer. Except Facebook, which I ought to do less.
THE END.
Of, like, everything.
This list.
This post.
This day.
This year.
This chance for me to prove my normalcy.

Just kidding, y'all wouldn't believe I was normal even if I bought Hollister jeans and straightened my hair and got straight Bs.

HOME!

^^ that. :)

I did not die. Even though I DROVE on the HIGHWAY for AN HOUR AND A HALF.

I Learned...
My oversensitive senses are good for something after all. My grandparents DID have a gas leak, and I was NOT making things up, even though nobody else could smell it unless they put their faces up to the wall.

4.5 down, 155.5 to go...

The Good: AAAHHH Youth Service was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! like so good!! Praise Team... y'all were awesome. Way, way awesome. And Matt was there! Which was so cool. And I could actually hear what I needed... even though I didn't get my in-ear monitors :P

The Bad: Driving for an hour, on 4.5 hours of sleep, when I haven't driven for exactly 70 days? Unfun. But I only made one turn that was too sharp... I did okay. But my legs do tired-ache.

The Random: Ummmyoumeanlike the firecrackers/rockets going off while I was trying to write in my Christine-book?

Kathryne

EDIT:
just realized the random coincidence that number of hours of sleep last night = number of pages completed in the Christine-book.
That is what the title refers to. The book, not the sleep. Although, I wonder how long it would take me to work up 160 hours of sleep, now...

roads

I love the feeling of newly-paved roads. Especially when there are lots of trees around and not too many cars and the speed limit is at that perfect 30-40 mph.

Kathryne

PS- I now have 25% of my required driving time!!

PPS- do subscribe to my other blog; it would make me very happy.

happy places :)

there are some places that just make me smile. they make me so inexplicably happy.

I went to a place like that today... the kind of place you can go with 10 other people and feel... not isolated, but... just free, like if you snapped your fingers, everybody else would just evaporate. the perfect sort of thing for an ambivert :P
(just kidding. I am an introvert. I just like people.)

(and then I made myself another clover crown.)

AND I drove! and didn't die! AND I saw Aaron & Matt on the side of the road at their carwash :P pleasant surprise.

For Last Night

Well, I meant to post last night after dinner.

However.

I went straight from dinner to bed! Yep, that's right... I was asleep by 8:30, giving me a whopping 11 hours of sleep! :D

Okay, the things about yesterday that made me smile...
Well, I went driving. And you all know how I hate driving, so I decided to compile a list of My Favorite Things About Driving.

My Favorite Roads
  • With several lanes all going the same direction~ I don't have to feel bad for not adjusting my speed to the desires of other cars
  • With pretty flowers and/or green things on the sides~ makes the drive more entertaining
  • With no other cars~ do I have to explain this one?
My Favorite Speed
  • exactly 5 mph below the speed limit, regardless
  • around 35-40 mph
My Favorite Highway Exit
That one where you don't have to merge at all :P

...and... um... I can't think of anything else right now.

breathe, breathe...

*gasp*
ACK!

(if you didn't guess by now, I just went driving)

I dislike driving.

BUT.
I drove for 45 minutes,
did not kill anyone,
did not kill myself,
and (sort of) successfully changed lanes!

blah, blah.

Bad things first:
-haven't talked to Christine in, like, forever... since Saturday! (gaspish... couldn't even think of anything clever to email today)
-rain
-Chemistry
-mornings

Good things now:
-drove for 45 minutes yesterday and didn't kill anyone! only honked at once... I'm bad at lane changing.
-yesterday was my half-birthday! and I forgot to post it!
-DOVE CHOCOLATE. 'nuff said.
-not too terribly much homework.
-watched My Fair Lady in school... YAY!!
-working on my junior thesis, and I am actually not being sarcastic this time when I say I'm having fun.

...duh?

Drivers' Ed cracks me up sometimes, it's just so "DUH".

I can't believe they actually thought they had to tell me to "avoid ... brick walls" to lessen the effect of a collision. LOL.

Wow.

I never expected a teacher to tell me: "We're going to watch a video, but it's okay if you want your cell phones out, a book, or doodling... just stay quiet and we can get out of here on time."
Such are the times I don't mind drivers' ed so much.

Also, today Megan and I went shopping, and I don't think I could count the things that made me smile there =) gooood times.

I had no idea...

The obvious highlight of the day (other than keeping wide awake all day even after staying up 'til 3:30 last night... power to me, right?) was... learning how to buckle my seatbelt.

Okay, maybe not so much, but it did make me smile that they had to tell us that in drivers' ed. I mean... really.

Good Day

Hello all!
today was a rather good day.
Lots of things made me smile...

1) I slept in til 11, yay!
2) I had my first day of drivers' ed. Megan is taking it with me, and to add to that, I showed up and saw another friend from church =)
3) This one takes some background...
My family is going on a mission trip to Africa this fall. We will be working at a children's home there. Needless to say, being in Africa, it was not going to be cheap to go... at all.
As a team (my family + 6 others), we decided to NOT fundraise the traditional way. We did NOT want to go by "you donate money and get ___ in return". We wanted everything to be free-will, so that others could experience God's blessing with us.
Now, a bit over 3 months after our first meeting, we covered the last $76 needed today! Even getting to just needing $76 so soon would have been a sure sign of God's favor. Now, "our cup runneth over", and we hope to be able to pass that on to the children at the home!
