Easter Monday

day off, yay :)

spent far too much time on Facebook/blogs "catching up" on the past 47 days... rendering said 47 days pretty much useless.

that said...

Things I Learned From Lent 2011

1. I don't need Facebook in order to breathe
2. I don't need Facebook in order to maintain a social life
3. I miss reading people's blogs more than their social networking pages
4. There are many ways to waste time that do not involve recreational internet
5. ...and I will do my best to find each and every one of them, because I am a lazy girl who does not want to do work
6. My bedroom is very messy
7. I don't have as much self-control as I thought I did
8. Prayer journals are the way to go!
9. I like early mornings for getting homework done
10. I still don't like TV

...and as for the thing I learned today? Facebook is detrimental to getting things done, especially on a day the whole school has off and proceeds to spend commenting on/liking all of the pictures you posted from your trip to Europe, so when you sign off for 5 minutes and get back on you have 21 notifications, all from the same person. True story.

Thus, I have decided to make tomorrow a Special Circumstances Facebook Free Tuesday. Let's see how long that lasts.

Wacky Tacky Day... :)

Why yes, that dress IS an INSTA-WIN. And I had more 90s hairbows you can't see in the picture. Also, my hair had deflated at that point in the day... yeah.
Megan succeeded at Wacky Tacky. Rachel still looks cute... SIGH! :P

As far as swing goes... well, let's just say that I think I need to practice my swivel step. a lot. :P It is not my favorite, but I ought to be able to pull it off instead of just standing there in awkward confusion.

My family can be quite amusing.

I was not very productive today. I ought to have been. I'm going to make up for it by going to bed on time and throwing productivity to the wind (although I could get much done in this next hour if I so chose.)

I also made chemical experiments on my hair. That's always fun. And only sometimes results in an explosion. It didn't this time, for which I am grateful.

week in a small school

This week I have been reminded over and over again the wonderful things about a small school... mine, in particular. Let me walk you through my week...

• Monday, forgot it was picture day. So my Literature teacher traded shirts with me... yes, she wore my red uniform polo and I wore her white oxford that was perfectly matched to the chapel uniform I was supposed to have worn. How many teachers will willingly wear their student's ugly uniform shirts? Not many, at all.
• Tuesday, was tired and slept through Math and Physics. Because I am in a single-person math class... no make up work, at all! wheeee! :)
• Wednesday, my Latin class got to bring in blankets and mugs for tea... and we drank tea and played Scrabble. Including the teacher, there are 6 of us, so it was perfect. Now we are making it a pre-test tradition.
• Thursday, we got out of school two hours early. I couldn't go home until 3 anyways, so for an hour and a half I just hung out with my Headmaster and wrote a blog post on my laptop.
• Today, I got almost every girl in the school... and every female teacher but one part-time-r... to wear pigtails for PIGTAIL DAY! I love pigtail day. It's the Friday before Christmas break, traditionally.
• All week, my Girls' Ensemble (which Megan & I get to lead/direct/organize, because of the whole small-school-small-music-program thing) has been doing impromptu rehearsals during lunch and then eating our lunches during 4th period.

Yep. Wouldn't trade it. Concert Monday. I feel sick. But not head-cold sick... more the kind that I can fake/sing my way through; I just feel tired.

I'm actually pretty exhausted...

Feeling weary, and the worst part is that I'm doing it to myself. Physically and spiritually, which is worse.

Thankful

...for grandparents, who always seem to have the best-smelling hand soap
...for feeling satisfied with the Common App and never bothering with it again
...for fluffy hair that doesn't make my head hurt
...for GRAETERS <3
...for a good excuse to listen to Christmas music (as if I've needed one for the past month)
...for fantastic friends who don't always take me seriously
...for rain that looks like glitter on the front lawn

Sleepover last night. I loved Princess' imitation of a "teenage girl."

And our *plans* to do things like go partying etc. HAHA. as if that would happen... here... where "party" can either mean

• place where you hang out and eat chips (-Kevin)
• place where you get high and do things you regret in the morning (-Megan's co-workers, interpreted by me)

Curly hair can be cut wet and look okay after all. Who knew?

The Good:

The creek was beautiful today. There was more color there than shows in these pictures, I promise.

And... I cannot say how many times I have been walking down the middle of the (one-way) road, been distracted by some pretty tree, walked to the side of the road, then realizing that a car just came whizzing down the wrong way and almost ran me over.

The Bad: My hair takes so stupidly long to wash >.<

The Random: Listening to Christmas music... classical music... serious Celtic music...

Oh, and my sister is such a girl after my own heart :) she started Christmas music this weekend!

Although, you can always tell the difference between us by the size of our pony tail holders.

PS- I LOVE the end of Daylight Savings! And this is not merely because of that famous "extra hour of sleep"... nah. It's the freedom! The choices! It doesn't have to be an extra hour of sleep... it could also be an extra hour of awake! It's like tax-exempt time!

(you can tell I really mean all of this by my 13-year-old-girl-level use of exclamation points. I can say that with authority because I have a 13-year-old sister.)

The Good: I might just be able to get all of my homework finished tonight! Like, in such a way as to not-have math or science... at ALL... tomorrow, which would make me extraordinarily glad!

The Bad: Seven worst words this year: "You'll have until Thursday to do it." Why is this bad? We hear it in every single Tuesday class, and thus Tuesday teachers feel they can assign extra. (OH WELL, they didn't do it so very badly today, which makes me... EEEE!)

The Random: I was reallyreally tired, fell asleep in Apologetics class today, and have been falling asleep ever since, except after I had that milkshake with Hershey's syrup and coffee grounds... if you can't tell, I'm pretty awake right now ;)

(and, wow, I just put three different tenses in that sentence: imperfect, perfect, present... Mrs. B would murder me)

EDIT: this just made my day (on my Awesome Possum dashboard) -

for the record, the Romans did not seem to be aware there were such things as possums. However, "possum" in Latin means "I am able," which is totally motivational and cool.

The Good: Yay for not doing physics in Physics! I love substitute teachers who give us "study hall" & let us outside.

The Bad: um, that would be the Government quiz I totally forgot to study for. And it was take-home. Wow.

• Straightening my hair! Take a good look, because it's probably the last time many of you will ever see it straight.

300th post!!! that is so AWESOME!

Today got to talk to Mrs Nicole... she is my hair-friend. She is the first person to introduce me to separate shampoo and conditioner. Until then, I didn't know there was such a thing; all we had was 2-in-1.

That was 5 years ago. Now we talk product and such. (wow, was it only 5 years ago that I discovered conditioner? woah)

The Good: got to hang with Rachel & Megan today!! I love you guys :) ...and, I really finished the CYMA schedule sheet today. I am so weird. I love schedules.

The Bad: ugggg jet lag. bleaaahhh awkward situations with semi-friends. ppbbbbthhh to drama.

The Ugly: my hair. There was a dew point of 70. Ideal is 35. That means my hair was a frizzy poof-ball. I am breaking out the climate control products.

Went on a Pink Jeep Tour today :) 'twas fun.

I wore my "Pray As You Go" tshirt from the DC mission trip last July. I read all the things people signed on the back. Everyone was very sweet.

Daniel's comment in particular made me giggle...
"Someday I will have longer hair than you."

It tempted me to get my hair cut while I'm down here. But I shan't. I want to grow it to my waist first!

Today in Chem lab we started The Hunt for Red October. SO much better than burning things, like we usually do.
