Today after school I came home and took a large step into popular culture-- after much persuasion by trusted friends and fellow bibliophiles, I read the first Harry Potter book. It was actually pretty good. As I was telling Caleb earlier, I don't suppose anyone's diet ought to consist solely of steak and potatoes and broccoli. Sometimes a slice of watermelon or a Rita's ice is in order. This was accomplished quite handily.
Bonus: read it while listening to the Sherlock Holmes soundtrack. EPIC.
So that was good and worth 3 hours of my Friday afternoon. I felt rested.

Then I had the stupid idea to watch a movie with my mom. And not just any movie, but a movie that would make my heart rate go up and my hands sweat more than they ought-- that is, The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. I guess you could chalk said symptoms up to the Mountain Dew I was drinking (caffeine and I don't get along well), but I think it's not improbable that they were because that is simultaneously one of the best and worst movies I have ever seen.
And yes, I did cry. a little.
And yes, I did wimp out and turn off the movie before the end and look up the plot summary on Wikipedia.
I am not that brave.
I am also feeling most definitely less-relaxed than after my first media experience this afternoon.
But I think it's supposed to do that.

-The Awkward Feely Conversation, during which Rachel and I both tripped over things because it was so Awkward and about Feelings
-"Rachel... the lawn gnome trucker!!!"
-Watched Titanic, finally. I enjoyed it thoroughly; it was a work of art. The motif of the hands is brilliant.
-Sleepover with Megan!

Today
-Saw Caleb a bunch for the first time in a while :)
-Began working on part of Christine's halfway present... yes, there will be one. muahaha. ha. ha.
-Learned tandem Charleston. The lead part. Partially. Ish. But it was fun. :)
-"Don't drool on me!" (my sister cracks me up)
-Dancing.
-Dancing in my sparkly outfit.
-Dancing lots of times and only hitting Mark in the face once :P
-Did I mention dancing?
-DADDY IS HOME!!!!<3

Sundays are awesome

I love, love, love the feeling of "I finished all of my homework and housework yesterday and now I can do WHATEVER I want to with my Sunday."

Including spontaneous plans to make trips to obscure state parks in northern Harford County. That's fun.

Note: I am not as bad a videographer as some of the shots would indicate. I just had to use some... uh... creative cropping. Let's just say that graffiti is rarely clean.

Also Note: I tried really hard to find a good song that was the right length to put this video to. The next closest thing I could find was Sugar Plum Fairy music, and I know how Princess feels about the misuse of THAT. :P So suffer through some Veggie Tales, it'll be okay.

So I made a video of it.

Then there was the evening service, which I love. And out of the 20 people in the congregation, 8 were wearing purple! (this may have been because of a certain football team, but I am choosing to disregard that.)

Today was what I call my "bonus break" (the day all the public schoolers go back and I have off still :D)

First: got an email from Snapfish, by which I ordered some picture prints recently, with a coupon. Free shipping on my next order? 25% off? YES PLEASE! Expires December 31... 2010? Um, wasn't that like 3 days ago? Thank you, Snapfish.

Second: hanging out with Megan and Marina and Kirsten for our... wait for it... CRAFTERNOON. Yes, I am punny. haw haw. We talked, and made fun things.

Third: Voyage of the Dawn Treader! AAAHHHH! Movie review to come on Veloquence soonish.

Just two of my FAVORITE PEOPLE in the ENTIRE WORLD turning seventeen today... Christine Marie Elizabeth and Rachel Elizabeth (aka Princess).

I love you both.

Funny how God put you on Earth the same day and put you in my life within the same month or two. Almost like He planned it or something. I don't know how I could have made it through this past year and a half without you guys to rant, cry, argue, joke, chat, email, rave, etc to. Love you both so much <3

We went to see Tangled today. Don't laugh at me! It was actually really good! Please read my review at Awesome Possum (see right side bar) for a logicking out.
So that made me smile.
Also, the old guy behind the counter at Smoothie King was very engaging and funny. I liked him.

I Learned...
Living on a boat gives you a lot of spare time, but the time that isn't spare is busy enough that you sleep for a lot of it :P

Three Days

I had a pretty fabulous night if I do say so myself. There were a gajillion people at swing dance, so… Christine! I danced enough for BOTH of us! :D
...and, I resisted the aerials! :P

Then Megan slept over, and even though we had to get up at 4 we didn’t turn the lights out until 12:15ish.

On vacation with my sister. (and my mom and dad and Megan, but they don’t cause quite as much uproar and/or entertainment)

Yeah, so, we left the house at 5! AM! Yay!

Then I slept for a long time. Then we stopped at some rest place in North Carolina, and I saw Brooke! It was absolutely crazy. We were going into Starbucks and she was coming out :P

Aaaaand I finished my section of the History of the American People monstrosity! At, like, 3pm. Because they had a book on tape going and I could not pay attention to the book. Because, while the book on tape was not terribly terribly engaging (it’s Lynn Austin, and I don’t care for her writing so much), it was more so than aHotAP.

The best part of the day, however, was Cookout. It is an amazing, drive-through restaurant. But you don’t go there for the food; ohhh no. For the same price as my ridiculously loaded-with-ice 12 oz lemonade at Starbucks, you get a 20 oz, super-filling, absolutely amazing “fancy milkshake” in one of about 40 flavors.

I got strawberry cheesecake :)
(which, by the way, was voted best-choice-in-car).

Now we’re here. And by here I mean a place at the beach in South Carolina. And by South Carolina I mean that muggy-hot, prone-to-tropical-storms, wonderfully-pretty place on the east coast of the United States. It’s great.

Today, went to see Alice in Wonderland at a SUPERCHEAP theater (I paid $2) with Amy :)

Then we went to IHOP. Everything in me wants to write that "iHop," but I know it isn't supposed to be that way.

Oscar came, too.

We are so cool. We got apple cinnamon cheesecake pancakes with scrambled eggs... mmmm!

Then we divided it up even... and called the calculation perfect love :P (sorry Rachel/Megan; couldn't resist)

Today we got bored of cleaning our room, so we recorded a song we're going with our chorus. Today, we did it without the rest of them, all by ourselves! 'Twas fun!!

...then we got this creepy message from some random guy:

Dorkumentaries!

yeah. So, I've always wanted to make a documentary. Like, a real one, not just some weird 5-minute school project.

SO.

I now get to make TWO!

First, we are filming an Oscarmentary! aka, a documentary-of-Oscar. My class is going on a field trip on Tuesday, and so we will take Oscar, my camera, and hopefully we will be able to turn out a 10-15 minute presentation :P

Second, I have decided to make a video "Intro to the MBTI." It's gonna be awesome, informative, highly scientific, and made on iMovie. aka, just about as good as you can get on a high-school student budget.

also... IT'S THE WEEKEND!!! EEP!
