...with the possible exception of Costume Swing/Barn Dance/PA Mime Performance of last October.
Christine came home.
I read a lot.
I did not do any homework.
I cleaned my room.
I went to an epic nonprom.
I did not fail completely at bowling... solid average of 7 pins/turn.
I woke up almost on time for church.
Christine was at church.
I again did no homework.
It's raining really hard.
I am really enjoying this senioritis thing.
...eeeexcept for the constant looming of final projects due in ten days which I really don't care to get started on but we have like nothing due all week so why should I do anything at all? I am not letting myself read any more Harry Potter books until I am finished with school. Or... OOH... until I get a job. Psh. That could take me like three months, and then I'll be in college and have no time anyway. Good one. We'll see. I am thinking about a lot, good and bad, and this weekend has been insane. Or has driven me insane. I am babbling like an idiot who knows she's babbling but doesn't really desire to stop because her fingers are moving at a solid fifty miles an hour and it would take more effort to stop them than to allow them to continue (HAHA! Inertia! that's some Physics law, right? ...I'm taking that class, I should know it. I'll bet you fifty cents it's Newton's somethingorother law, but beyond that I don't know. First, second, or third?). There is a lot to consider about my future... about my friends' futures... (not that either of the preceding are within my hands at all)... about my values and my principles... speaking of which, I need to learn something about Catholicism and football, both of which are contrary to my current system of belief, if I am actually going to Notre Dame next year... about next weekend... about next week... about why I am feeling the way I am feeling and how to make it stop... like that guy who rode a roller coaster for 24 hours straight then slept for six days. But that's an inverse. I am not supposed to work one day and rest the other six. Six days you labor and do all your work and the other one you rest. I just want to give my brain a sleeping pill for goodness sake. I am going to bed now, drugs or no drugs...

butterfly bites
today was lovely, I am sure.
as far as things happening it was not too awesome (Girls' Ensemble issues, mainly, not to mention I have THE most RIDICULOUS looking cast on my left hand), but I have been happy all the same. I don't understand why, exactly, but I am not going to be too picky.
the evening was nice. I laid out on my stomach on a blanket on the grass under our tree and did History/Math homework. the cat slept on my back for a while. and then there was small group, which does make me smile.

mathy stuff
Using geometry (and dare I say it trig and calc) today...
it made me so happy to see Princess' proving trig identities homework today!
As you will see on my Facebook "interests" section*...
And speaking of interests, I made a petticoat for the first time today. Arc length ftw. It's very poofy.
[Sidenote: should anyone be interested in learning patience, one should take up sewing. For serious.]
I am such a nerd it is not even funny. But I think it is anyway, because my sense of humor is dead like that :)
Kathryne
* most of these speak for themselves: you should know, however, that I do not claim to PLAY piano or pennywhistle with any kind of efficiency... I just like them.

highlights + world domination
Highlights of my day:
- Not finding even a decent pair of tennis shoes and sweatshirt for Sports Day (school spirit week), and so deciding to be ironic and wear my Bookworm shirt and a skirt and heels.
- Watching Caleb slide his lunchbox across the table over near to me so that we can sit together and discuss our plans for world domination. Our triumvirate will consist of him (executive brute force), Megan (diabolical and charismatic genius), and me (contingency-planning and law-constructing).
- Mrs. B looking me in the eye as she returns my Glass Menagerie vs Hamlet essay and saying, "This is the best essay I have ever received from a student." VICTORY.
- Daddy's flight to China has been POSTPONED because of snow!! So he will be here for small group, which is awesome.
And for now, I am achey and have chills, so I think I will not try to write my History/Literature/Thesis essays due this week and instead do Math homework (which does not require coherent sentences anyway)... and then go to bed.

Dear Christine,
Life in Bel Air this year has been horrible.
I might even go so far as to say, it's deplorable.
Every time I want so bad to see you
I must slap my own hand and say, "Stop! I will beat you!"
"If you do not stop this abominable wish
To see someone so far away as Africa... ish...
You will be miserable, take it from me
I've been there, you know, the depths I have seen--
The depths of the pit of Hell and despair."
(Okay, this drama thing is going nowhere)
But alas, through all of my self-reprobation,
I miss you; my heart is one huge conflagration.
It's burning and aching... oh, no, here we go...
Melodrama went out three decades ago.
Regardless, my dear, Christine, my friend,
I miss you a lot. So this poem I send.
My yearning for you is true ever-present;
Without you, it's quite hard to be effervescent.
So come back at your earliest convenience
For I miss you with all of my love and allegiance.

Confessions
I am Katie.
Incapable of sleeping before midnight.
Incapable of getting out of bed before 7.
Incapable of using Powerpoint competently.
Incapable of remembering which light switch does what.
Incapable of throwing away a tea bag without thinking there must be a way to reuse it.

Incapable of getting out of bed before 7.
Incapable of using Powerpoint competently.
Incapable of remembering which light switch does what.
Incapable of throwing away a tea bag without thinking there must be a way to reuse it.
and then there is Kathryne, but she makes me feel insecure about myself. And I'm not speaking to her today.

new things
Today, I stepped out of my comfort zone.
I showed up for a government exam unprepared.
I wrote a speech to give at my school event tonight... in the 45 minutes before I had to be there.
I showed up to run through The Precious Blood with Doug, who was to accompany the Girls' Ensemble for the first time on that song, and since school was cancelled yesterday we couldn't practice then.
Doug forgot the music (my only copy), so I played it from memory. If you could call what I did playing. I think that's an insult to the piano.
I stood up and gave a speech I had never practiced and only had a detailed outline for.
I started crying in the middle of it.**
I completely deviated from what I wanted to say (read: skipped the last half because I was crying.)
And then I hugged people :P
Kathryne
*turns out he postponed the test.
**I allow myself allowance for 2 cries a year. Preferably not in public. NEVER in front of 200 people. But Mr V is leaving in March and I will miss him. And I was stupid enough to put the part about him in the middle and not at the end.

weird day
It was long, long, long. Almost fell asleep a few times.
I feel accomplished, though. I finished another college essay, did my Old Man and the Sea reading, and practiced Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence for Sunday.
And then there was swing dance.
Doug is the most hilariously awkward person I know.
Colin's math jokes! <3
And Livi's pepper joke... haha
I Learned...
I feel more awake the day after getting 5 hours of sleep than after getting 7.

Thankful
...for grandparents, who always seem to have the best-smelling hand soap
...for feeling satisfied with the Common App and never bothering with it again
...for fluffy hair that doesn't make my head hurt
...for GRAETERS <3
...for a good excuse to listen to Christmas music (as if I've needed one for the past month)
...for fantastic friends who don't always take me seriously
...for rain that looks like glitter on the front lawn
:)

unexpected blessings
My Physics teacher surprised the living daylights out of me today.
We were going over some of our work from the past week or so. I raised my hand with a mundane, simple question about a lab report. As he acknowledged my hand, before I could get a word out of my mouth, he said...
"Katie, you can go have a study hall in the library, if you want. You get all of this already."
Shock much?
And then I went to Panera with Megan and Marina, yay! we talked. I like you guys <3
And then we went to Rachel's ballet class, since it's visitors week. I have lots of things to say about that, but am too impatient to type them.
And then I came home to find that ...CHRISTINE AND ERIN ARE ON FACEBOOK?!?
Shock much?

AWRUOHAACHRISTMASERGIHAE
The Good: AAHHH! I get to arrange a medley for choir!! I have never done that before, but I am super excited, because it's a CHRISTMAS medley. The girls are picking between these three (with really stupid names)...
- Angels (Hark, the Herald Angels Sing; Angels We Have Heard on High; O Come All Ye Faithful... based on BarlowGirl's Angelic Proclamation Medley)
- Night/Lullaby (Silent Night; O Holy Night; It Came Upon a Midnight Clear; Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence, etc)
- The Child (What Child is This; One Small Child; Gentle Mary Laid Her Child; Away in a Manger, etc)
The Bad: Busy bee >.<
(have to finish this skirt, find time to go to JoAnne's to get a zipper for the thing, do Bible study prep, keep up with homework, and prepare for all my different choirs... and this weekend I will not be home. Legitly. All of these things are wonderful, but they add up to mean DISASTER aka less sleep. I need to learn to say no.)
The Random: lolol. Picture day. No individual pictures, thank all that is good and gracious in the yearbook department... senior pics go in! But our class pic is ridiculous. See illustration (which is, unfortunately, kind of accurate... guess who is who! And don't you love my stick figures? :P)

warm&cold&such
The Good: SUCH nice weather today! Walked to Bynum Run again, and played in the creek like a little kid :P
The Bad: The water was FREEZING, and then I (in my bare feet) almost stepped in this...
The Random: I realized today that it's really funny how I have never run into any of the crazy people (aka Mark & Daniel) who often bike around my neighborhood, when I'm out on my walks. Hum.

Fairy Place :)
The Good: got to go to BIBLE FORCE!!! :D
And, for those of you who are somehow unaware, there is a creek in my general area that has a stone wall I like to sit on (photo taken 10.25.09)...
(donkey from the farm across the street from the stone wall)
...and today I got to go down there with my journal and my book and my camera (plenty of occupation for a few hours). I rediscovered my fairy place (upstream a bit of the wall) and had lots of fun just looking. I think Christine & Erin & Kristen and I are going to have a photoshoot sometime soon, when the leaves change.
The Bad: SAT yesterday :P
The Random:

love.
The Good: Life. People. Mime Family Dinner. Christmas music. Apple cider. Everything.
The Bad: SAT tomorrow.
The Random: some pictures from the past two days... (click to see full-size)
^^ from Physics class :P ...in my "Blah Book"
^^ "Blah Book" itself... I have way too many notebooks/journals/sketchpads
I do not deserve my life. I have been so incredibly blessed. AAAAH.

Gray Day :)
The Good: These past few days have been decidedly gray. And I like them. It's like The Secret Garden, or those Beatrix Potter videos, or really any film that takes place in premodern Britain. It's quite nice, at least, when I am wearing gloves and a sweater.
The Bad: Math.
The Random: Dug through my computer archives to find something to post on Awesome Possum. Found some surprisingly good poems I wrote in elementary school. I think I was a better poet then than now.
Kathryne
PS~ Lit assignment! it's finished!
From the YouTube description:
This is my first attempt at a semi-surrealist film. It is based on the fifteenth stanza of Walt Whitman's "Song of Myself."
Music is the beginning of Cry of the Heart from Michael W Smith's "Freedom."
EXPLANATION:
As this is surrealist, I cannot fully explain it (*devious laugh*). However, note Whitman's ending comments in stanza XV:"And these tend inward to me, and I tend outward to them,He comes to the forty-six people described in the stanza with open, empty hands. Not one of those forty-six is a poet or anything like Walt Whitman. I think he is trying to make the point that the others mentioned ARE Walt Whitman. And Walt Whitman IS them. He comes with nothing of his own, wanting to absorb the feelings, thoughts, and habits of the others.
And such as it is to be of these more or less I am"

eep.
today was cool. very cool.
The Good: Church. And this. And talking to Christine even more than earlier.
The Bad: Trying to get mime video files onto the computer when they are in a seriously antiquated format. Developing a nervous twitch and pacing around the upstairs snapping my fingers compulsively while speaking to tech support aka Mark.
The Random: "Your outfit just emanates happiness... about the weather!" (me, speaking to Blake, who says he has never before been told his outfit -of black leather calf length coat, black hat, jeans, and grey shirt- emanates anything, much less happiness.)

tehehehe
I am HERE! With CHRISTINE!
And I am spending the whooollleeee weekend.
muahaha.
take that, teachers-who-try-to-ruin-my-life-with-exorbitant-amounts-of-homework. I SHALL DEFY YOU.
Understood, I will be leaving here at 6am tomorrow and getting back at 8pm (in between which times I hope to finish my government and/or apologetics), and then leaving again on Sunday at 6am. Yes. whee. :P I will get to sleep in for school on Monday! haha.
I am happy.
OH! I forgot!
The Good: (see: above) (and see: Princess' amazing poem!)
The Bad: (see: 6am, twice in a row)
The Random: I painted the MRWP with white-out so that it is a sign-able surface for ohmygoodness Alex/Brett/Josh Harris, to whom I will hopefully be gifted with the ability to present their first ever opportunity to sign a 2oz jar of Benjamin Moore Poppy Red wall paint.

Black & White PARTAY
While my voice was incapacitated, I did almost win Twister... not that those two have anything to do with each other.
One game I beat David because he was nice to me and didn't totally push me off the board, and the championship round it took 5 minutes to get down to the two of us, and then probably another 5 with just us. And it was INTENSE. And David is very skilled. And I am very fortunate. But he did win. Then all of my arms/legs/hands/feet/fingers/toes were shaking and I couldn't breathe normally for about 10 minutes. I must be out of shape. (And while David was not in quite so bad a condition, my hair did look better than his when it was over :P)
So there was lots of Twister, and lots of food, and lots of talking.
lol, cartoon about secret identities:
(look familiar? haha)

PS- glove substitutes:
you can only imagine the rest of my outfit...

I'm Weird.
I really do love my dentist. He's awesome. As is his assistant/hygenist-person. I like her too. They make me laugh. This can be painful when there are sharp, pokey metal objects in your mouth, but that is okay.

EDIT: fwoomph. fwoomph. HALT. you mean we can't fwoomph anymore? NO. SHH.
